There’s a difference between managing money and carrying money.
Managing money involves decisions. Carrying money often involves pressure.
Pressure to make the right choice.
Pressure to avoid mistakes.
Pressure to hold everything together.
Pressure to create certainty for yourself and everyone around you.
Over time, money can quietly become attached to responsibility in ways we don’t even realize.
It stops being just a financial resource. It becomes emotional weight.
And for many people, that weight feels exhausting long before they understand why.
One of the things I’ve noticed over the years is that people rarely struggle with money in isolation.

They struggle with what money has come to represent.
Safety.
Freedom.
Worth.
Stability.
Control.
Approval.
That’s a very different conversation than simply “making more money.”
And often, recognizing the pressure we’ve attached to money is the first step toward changing our relationship with it.
